The Howbeck is renowned for its award winning breakfast. Winner of the AA Breakfast Award in 2010 and 2011, we make sure that you get the best possible start to the day - a piping hot hearty Cumbrian breakfast of Cumberland sausage (meat or vegetarian), bacon, saute potatoes, roast tomato, mushrooms and eggs to your liking. Freshly ground coffee is available for all guests, served in cafetieres, or a choice of teas, served in individual white china teapots.

Of course, if you fancy something a little lighter, we are sure there will be something for you on our extensive cold table; fruit juices, cereals, fresh toast and local preserves, freshly baked croissants and bread, as well as a fine selection of continental meats and cheeses. A platter of fresh fruit is also available for all guests.

Although we no longer open our restaurant in the evening, we are able to recommend several great restaurants in Windermere, Bowness and the surrounding area.

Michelin Star Dining

Our exclusive alliance with Holbeck Ghyll has proved very popular and for those looking for a memorable dining experience, be it lunch or dinner, this is perfect. Guests are greeted with a complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival, followed by a fabulous Michelin Star meal in the restaurant, which offers breathtaking views of Lake Windermere and the Lakeland fells beyond.

Alternatively why not book a wonderful afternoon tea, set in beautiful surroundings overlooking the lake, at just £14.95 per person.

Or, for true relaxation, why not book a full pamper day at £159.00 per person. As a guest of the Howbeck you will be greeted with a complimentary glass of bubbly to start your special day of indulgence.

For those wishing to stay a little closer to home, we can recommend several fantastic restaurants in Bowness and Windermere. We have included a small selection below and our staff will be only too happy to make a reservation for you. Obviously we cannot list all of the restaurants in the Lake District, so if you have a particular preference, for instance vegetarian, please let our staff know and we can recommend alternative places to eat.

Hooked - Windermere's No.1 restaurant on Trip Advisor. Windermere's newest seafood restaurant opened in November 2010 and strives to serve you the freshest and tastiest seafood. Flavours and influences from the Mediterranean, South East Asia and Australia.

Francine's - Francine's is a relaxed and friendly bistro-styled restaurant with an a-la-carte menu, as well as a daily specials board. Fantastic wine list and large selection of local speciality ales.

Postilion - located on a quaint cobbled street in Bowness, the Postilion is renowned for its relaxed and comfortable surroundings. Extensive menus with a wine list to match.

Giotto's - a fantastic Pizzeria serving authentic Italian food just off the main street in Windermere.

The Lighthouse - a bistro-style restaurant in the heart of Windermere village with several tables spread over three floors.

Roberto's - a charming restaurant in the centre of Bowness just a minute or so from Lake Windermere. Excellent food with a wine list to match.

Rastelli's - a superb Pizzeria on the main road to Bowness, just a five minute walk from the Howbeck.

Jintana Thai - fantastic Thai restaurant in the centre of Bowness on Windermere offering diners a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and freshly prepared, authentic Thai cuisine.
