The Hotel is renowned for its good food, lovingly prepared to order from fresh and wherever possible local ingredients.
Gleaming white china is used for both breakfast and dinner and the food presentation is to a very high standard.
The Famous Breakfast
The day starts with a piping hot hearty Cumbrian platter breakfast of Cumberland sausage (meat or vegetarian), bacon, oven sauté potatoes, roast tomato, braised mushrooms and eggs to your liking.
The extensive cold table offers all the usual fruit juice, cereals, fresh toast & preserves together with a good selection of continental meats, cheeses etc.
Fresh home made bread is a daily feature of the table. The aroma of fresh ground coffee, served in cafetieres, fills the air and tea is served in individual white china teapots. There is always a platter of fresh fruit adorning the sideboard for those wishing a healthier option.
Evening Dinner
Dinner is served in the candlelit restaurant. Here the emphasis is on fresh and wherever possible local produce. Slow roast minted lamb and toffee sponge pudding are two of the favourites and vegetarian selection is excellent. Guests who would like to dine on day of arrival are asked to call 24 hours in advance with their selection.
