Historic Waterbird Takes to the Skies from Windermere 5th – 6th September

Experience a unique slice of aviation history at Wings Over Windermere 2025, taking place on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th September. This special event features the Waterbird, a faithful replica of the UK’s first successful seaplane from 1911, soaring once again over its original home, Lake Windermere. The flying displays are scheduled to begin at 6:45 PM each evening, subject to permissions from the Civil Aviation Authority and the Lake District National Park Authority.

In addition to the Waterbird, spectators will be treated to a display by the Aviat Husky, a modern seaplane that highlights the enduring legacy of early aviation pioneers. The best viewing spot is at Brockhole on Windermere, offering a stunning backdrop of the Langdale Pikes.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to witness living aviation history take flight. For more details, visit the official website: waterbird.org.uk.
